- alcxmntr.exe is used to monitor Events by the RealTek AC'97 audio device (usually on the mother board sound, but may be found on some sound cards). Event Monitor may send data to external sources but sound issues may arise if set to not start. (Can be avoided by adding a sound card and disabling on-board sound.) CAUTION: Various trojan/worm/spyware overwrite or create a file by this name.
