- COM Surrogate could be legitimate Windows OS process. COM Surrogate is part of the COM+ services and is called when a program starts up to get system resources then shuts down. Commen Object Model (COM) -provides an interface for various programs to interact with commen objects(system resources). (COM+) -Similar to COM but with added features like more management capabilities. Windows will shut down a process if COM Surrogate does't tell the system that everything is ready to go. CAUTION: Various trojan/worm/spyware overwrite or create a file by this name.
