- When a user inserts a DVD into the optical drive on the computer the default application for playing DVD starts and enables the user to access the files on the disk. DVD player applications are installed by DVD writing software, media players, and even by software on the DVD itself. DVDSentry polls the computer for installations of DVD player applications and enables the user to block the additional installations and use the existing player application.
