- Microsofts Internet Information Services (IIS) is a web server software for providing World Wide Web (WWW) publishing, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) services, Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMPT) services, and/or Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) services. inetinfo.exe runs the main IIS process, hosts most of the protocol engines of IIS (FTP, SMTP, NNTP, IMAP4, and POP3), and the admin service.
