MAPI Spooler is a background process that transmits messages to/from a messaging system with the ability to store and forward messages when messaging systems become available. Messaging Application Programing Interface (MAPI) -used to access items/folders and associated properties from public/private stores. Application Program Interface (API) -platform for building software applications that enable software developers to access various system resources/features without writing hardware-specific code.MAPI is used by various email clients (like Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Exchange Server) but does not work well outside an intranet. mapisp32.exe is the 32bit version of MAPI Spooler. Outlook 2002 no longer uses mapisp32.exe, Outlook Protocol Manager (OPM) calls MAPI Protocol Handler (MPH) to call each of the MAPI transports as needed.
