- Principle
- Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) -enables registering/querying of a database which maps NetBIOS names and unique IP addresses. The database is syncronized at various locations on the network enabling its data to be dynamic and also allows NetBIOS to work over routers. Network Basic Input/Output System (NetBIOS) -assigns names to resources (unique -one address, group - multiple addresses), establishes connections between two resources(names), provide reliable data transfer between connections. (best for Local Networks, does not work with routers)
